This way:
1. we establish the problem
2. we establish the TIME FRAME of this problem
3. we don't make ANY kind of accusations

And what we have seen here is the problem being attributed to a certain population.
That's why it's an issue.
Basically your saying that people should stop being humans and actually caring for other's feelings. Thats what I get at least.

Anyways, I havn't had a gold seller PM in a long time, before the whole Taiwanese separation and I still have yet to get one, and I hang out in the highly populated towns the most. Not saying that it isn't going on, but I think there is a chance that there were bots pming people between the time of Taiwan being separated and re-united. That, or that the people have stopped to let things blow over and now have restarted with Taiwan back, to try to blame it all on Taiwan and not themselves.

I don't think the money selling sites are American or European, just because there are allot better ways of getting money irl there. In Taiwan etc. people havent got any choice, and there the money is worth more.

Both the OP and the individual you quoted are merely expressing an opinion as to the source of a problem based on observation and analysis of said observations.

Even if those observations are at best circumstantial evidence noting them and expressing opinions based on them is not racism. In fact such opinions are a common sense reaction to certain patterns of activity. For example:

Joe is a member of my circle of friends....

Whenever joe came over to my house with my other friends all of my beer disapeared.

Joe moved away and immediately the beer disapearance ceased.

Joe came back for an extended visit. The beer disappearances immediately started up again.

Under such circumstances it would be only logical to suspect Joe of taking my beer.

The OP posted that he didnt, "think," that it was a coincidence and stated that the whispers began in a time frame comparable to the reconnect of the Taiwan region which obviously roused his suspicions.

The individual you quoted merely agreed with the OP's suspicions.

I am sorry but deciding to assign racist motives in a situation where the statements were based on observable patterns of activity.

Point..

Did the gold seller whispers slow or stop during Taiwan's absence (It seemed so to me) ?

Did they return after Taiwan's reconnect (I'm not sure havent PVP'd in a few days)?

If the answer to those questions is yes then Gloryfox's statement is merely a statement of fact.

Last point..

calling someone names because they have stated an opinion based entirely on observable patterns of activity and then accusing that person of racism in order to discredit their observations and opinions is the weakest possible sort of debate tactic. You cant disprove their point or even offer a counter to their conclusions so you attempt to smear them in an effort to redirect the argument away from their conclusions. I am sorry to say that the only person guilty of prejudicial statements here is you.
Thank you! QFT.

The cries of racism always make me laugh, because its the only counter-arguement they can make.

There is no racism here. I simply stated an opinion that I think the people who run these whisper bots are based in the Taiwan region, and I posted why I think that.

But the same argument applies; just substitute 'Joe and his friends' instead of just Joe. No, that does not mean that Joe and each and every one of his friends are stealing beer, but that does make a correlation that Joe and/or his friends are stealing beer.

He is not providing evidence, I agree, but what is he providing evidence for? He is simply stating that since the Taiwanese accounts have been merged, the bots have come back. And from reading the replies, it sounds like he has back up for this statement.

No where does it say that all Taiwanese in general are all whisper botting gold farmers, but the observation is being made that since their merger bot whispers have increased. Whereas none of the European districts nor the American districts have had their service changed at all. Since the only thing that has changed lately is the Taiwanese connection, then logically the conclusion is to draw a correlation between the two.

I personally haven't been whispered by these new bots, but I'll be happy to whisper them back and ask them their country of origin.

There is no racism on this thread. No one is hating or judging any particular race over the bot issue, they are speculating whether or not allowing a contry access to the game has increased the numbers of bots.

I havnt noticed any bots in the last few days, RA still seems clear to me.

Can the racism issue just like be dropped please?

A population isnt a race. Unfortunately, due to Taiwans government laws on not being able to ban accounts for botting problems, it is not difficult to realise that we would see more bots from this region because in their country, it isnt illegal.

Move over to Europe and America and people will think twice about breaking the rules that we have before botting or gold selling. However if you are in a country where it is allowed, and you want to do it, there is nothing stopping you.

A few people blocked off is a small price for the majority of the player base to have some peace. I hope they get locked back out again until either their government cooperates or their gold sellers get the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO out of our game.

Gotta disagree there. Aside from a few ads selling russian women, they barely make an impact at all.

a bot problem yes, but a bot problem that seems to be comming from the asian districts, if you hadnt noticed they had completely stopped when they werent allowed on, they can come back on and they start again....strange

but no, its rude and raciast to blame the people obiously at fault just because they happen to be a different race

put the race card back in the deck, shuffle well, and go cry in a corner somewhee

Granted it's not traditionally what Westerns think of as 'Asian'.

I ,*personally*, would allow my account to be locked if it were to help reduce the amount of spam from my country. However, that's my decision to make, and should never have to really be "decided" by ANet.

Granted, it sucks that we're seeing in-game spam again, but it lets the real players play the game.

ArenaNet is the administrator of Guild Wars. If a country wants to play Guild Wars then they have to play by ArenaNet's rules. The majority must always take priority in decisions such as this. Until Taiwan cleans up their act they don't have much right to complain.

*hands you a map* Look at that HUGE region out east. Most of Russia's geography, 2/3, is in Asia(east of the Ural Mountains). Geography lesson over. Don't even get me started on the centuries of bad blood between the two regions.

EDIT: nice, cgruber. I gotta learn to type faster.
